Thursday, March 25th 5-7 pm.  Food and Fun (for a Cause!)
Dragonfly Beads is teaming up with Knecht’s Sewing in East Syracuse and Café 119 here in Manlius.  This is a “ladies night out” with a wonderful purpose!  Nadine Knecht will be inviting her mailing list and Café 119 will be open late for this event.  When Sharon Winter-a dear friend of one of Nadine’s customers- found out in August that she had cancer, she started her treatment, which included 6 months of Chemo and Radiation.  She received treatment at the Watertown Cancer Center.  When Sharon lost all of her hair, it was as though a portion of her beauty and femininity along with it.  Her creative pal gave her a pair of earrings and a note which read “Blessed Are the Earrings, for they bring out Faith, Strength and Beauty for the lady that wears them”.  Sadly, the cancer was tenacious and Sharon passed away on January 31 of this year.  To honor her memory, her friend is asking to do something special:  She would like to continue the “Earring Project”, so that each and every woman who walks into the Watertown Cancer Center for the first time will receive a pair of earrings and a card with the “Blessed are the Earrings” note. She would like donations of earrings, new or used.  On March 25th, you are invited to bring a pal (quilters and beaders unite!) to Dragonfly Beads to make earrings, and then go over to Café 119 for a nice meal with creative women.  (You can also dine first, it’s all up to you!)  On a more personal note, one of my wonderful customers, Susan McKee, succumbed to cancer on Christmas Day, 2009.  I would love to donate earrings to our local Cancer Center in her memory.  The more earrings we make, the more spirits we can brighten.

Friday, March 26th, 11-4 pm.  PMC Findings (Intermediate)
Make your own components to embellish your bead work and have pieces that are truly unique.  Learn to make your own cones, bead caps, identification marks and toggles using PMC!  Resident instructor erin has been working with PMC since 2003 and completed her PMC Certification in 2007.  She has been teaching PMC classes for the past two years and is a very generous and practiced instructor.  $115 includes materials.

Saturday, March 27th, 11-4.  Discovering PMC (Beginner)
Discover this magical material with resident instructor erin and turn “clay” into silver!  PMC is not really clay, but .999 Fine Silver particles suspended in water and cellulose binder.  It looks and feels like clay, and can be textured, filed, carved, sanded and molded.  When fired in a kiln, the water and binder burn out, leaving you with a piece of pure silver jewelry!  This class teaches you how to work with the material and includes stone setting, paper, paste and syringe usage and texturing and cutting lump clay.  Students go home with a bracelet or set of earrings and pendant.  You will also receive a basic PMC tool kit as part of this class. Erin has been working with PMC since 2003 and completed her PMC Certification in 2007.  She has been teaching PMC classes for the past two years and is a generous and practiced instructor.  $135 total includes materials

Wednesday, March 31st, 4-6pm.  FREE DEMO
Corinne will be demonstrating how to use scrimps and the scrimp tool as she adds beaded handles to her wonderful cloth purses.  This is a great price to purchase some of her bags at a ridiculously low price and add your own beaded handle!
